Marty was raised in Louisville's Southend and attended Catholic school from 1976-88 (compliments of forced bussing.)
He served in the US Navy between 1988-90, where he honed his photography skills in Europe doing freelance work for the Department of Defense.
Upon his return to civilian life, Marty became a professional videographer and ruled Louisville's Public Access scene with a string of underground, cult TV shows between 1992-99.
In 2002, he focused his attention on his love of still photography, and turned pro in 2003.
Marty has had hundreds of photos published by the LEO (Louisville Eccentric Observer.)
He also works as a freelance writer, and has had several stories published. He has been a featured performer in Art Sanctuary's Storytelling Series.
His first feature article to appear on the cover of the LEO was a story about Knob Creek Gun Range's Semi-Annual Machine Gun Shoot in March of 2006.
The photo on the left is from that assignment and is of Marty and R. Lee Ermey (host of the HIstory Channel's Mail Call.)
In 2007, Marty expanded his business and skill set to include: sports & action photography, international commercial photography, magazine work, High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI) and stylistic natural light portraiture.
His hard work and focus on artistic evolution enabled Marty to sell over 12,000 images (with 297 being published) in 2007 alone. He was the only photographer attached to the URHere Louisville Magazine launched in May of 2008. Over 100 of his vibrant images are featured in this free publication being touted as an "insiders Guide to Louisville" and published by the LEO (Louisville Eccentric Observer.)
As of May 2009, Marty has had 552 images published in various magazines.
